    It is a pocket companion, so it is not an extensive book on every food or restaurant chain out there. However, it is great for the basics: 4,500 foods, 100s of brands, and 30 restaurant chains. I use it because I have to decrease calories, decrease sodium, and increase potassium. It helps me make better choices. I tried using diet plans, but they didn’t work for me. I’m just not that disciplined. I believe, that over time, this book will help me get on the right track.

    I bought it for my elderly mom who needs to pay strict attention to food nutrients due to health issues. I would prefer one of the many internet sites or apps to this but she is more comfortable and independent with a book. So far it’s working well for her and she likes it.

    When I initially got this book, I was confused as to the organization. Also, a large part of the book is dedicated to eating out. After using it for a while I love it. I have to keep track of the protein and sodium I ingest. This gives me that information and more. Also, it is a compact resource and there isn’t a lot of extraneous chatter. The price is right also. I recommend it highly. I gave it 4 points instead of 5 due to the amount of eating out info.

    So small I can keep it on my kitchen table. Easy to read. Just the facts and nothing more. I would have preferred it use government sources to list the items by weight. Instead of a medium banana, list it as 100g or 1 ounce.

    This book is excellent if you frequent restaurants and fast food chains. Eighty two out of one hundred and seventy nine pages are devoted to calorie counts of their foods. I am returning the book because I don’t frequent either and need a simple, less expensive book for calorie counts of basic foods.

    This little book completely fits the bill! I just wanted a simple calorie counter book and this is it. It took me a bit to figure out why restaurants was in the middle and then I got it…everything is in alphabetical order, so restaurants come before vegetables! 🙂 Well worth the price!

    My doctor says counting calories is the best way to lose weight and that seems to work for me
    It’s just work to keep track but if you do the work, you lose weight
    Using this is better than using an app which tracks and keeps all your info!
