Not what I expected…………………….it turned out to be more.

This book is a mix of a memoir, a fitness manual, and a de-bunker of conventional fitness advice.

This is about how Ross went around the world and learned about how people from different cultures and occupations lived and trained.

An example of this is how he trained with the Royal Marines; lets just say it put everything he did about to train to shame.

Now this book does go into detail about how to train based on his travels and his mentors, but you’ll be suprised when you see it. I personally havent read anything like this since American Shaolin and am truly enjoying every bit of it.

Ross; thanks so much for writing this! Its an awesome book that needed to come out sooner rather than later.

This is beautiful book with thick, glossy pages and lots of photos, charts and graphs. The author relates a number of his fitness adventures and how he trained for them. Pros: interesting stories and tons of fitness research and principles. Cons: the editor either has horrible ADD or was overwhelmed by the volume of material and did not want an 800 page book. There are recipes in the middle of stories, stories with no pictures of main characters and workouts peppered throughout the book. This might be intentional given the short attention span of most adults but I disliked the format. Bottom line: if you are committed to a fit lifestyle, you’ll love this book.

  3. Mindy (verified owner)

Excellent Fitness read a must have for anyone looking for deeper knowledge of how to step up their fitness game!!!

  4. Jose Feliciano (verified owner)

This book has opened my eyes! I didn’t know what to expect from it and that was the best choice, because I would have been mind blown anyways. Ross Edgley takes the fitness world to a whole new level with his expertise. I always tought fitness and sports nutrition as something very hard to understand and I also thought it was only a one way road, but I realized that there i so much I haven’t even thought about… Until now! I absolutely recommend this book. IT IS WORTH YOUR MONEY AND TIME!

  5. C. Carrico (verified owner)

This is a pretty good read. Funny stories, good guidance.
Ross seems to have misplaced his shirt and forgotten how to pull his pants up for all the pictures in the book.

  6. Ieva (verified owner)

Greatest fitness book what I have read in all my live. This book show me that there is more than we see and feel. We have a huge potential inside of us. Thank you Ross for your inspire, definitely use your book as bible for rest of my life.

  7. Lauren Winters (verified owner)

I’m biased because this book literally spoke to my soul almost instantly and I didn’t have much of a critical eye when it came to formatting, style, etc while reading.
That being said, as a fitness professional of 7 years, I’ve never found a book that spoke to the absolute importance of being your own experimenter and living through doing, trial and error- a lost art of the 21st century.
I recommend this book to people who are iconoclast and interested in living with everything they got! Thank you, Ross!

  8. waitwhat (verified owner)

Really thorough overview of fitness and feeding principles. Also filled with some very interesting stories from a very interesting guy. Probably the best book on fitness I’ve ever read.

  9. Jack (verified owner)

The way the book was written allows it to be an easy exciting read without the half asleep head bob of the typical reseach only book in this genre. Having worked in the fitness industy and studying biomechanics and mechmical engineering has given me an in depth knowledge of the science but no experience in real world application with athetes of the highest caliber and this is where i see this book being very valuable. If you love fitness and would like to expand your knowledge to a level that one can only do by dedicating their life to training, traveling, and networking with the best of the best i highly recommend this book because Ross does it for you!

  10. Wyatt (verified owner)

Words cannot do this title justice, a must read for anyone in the fitness industry and a should read for anyone who is not! Cheers!

  11. sunny (verified owner)

This book is a pleasure to read, it really is! Ross takes you through his fitness journey and you can really hear his voice in the words. I knew a little about how impressive Ross was before reading this book, however even after the first 4 chapters I was blown away – what a life!!

In my opinion there are few sports that wouldn’t benefit from the training principles laid out in this book!

If you are serious about getting fit, whether it’s gaining muscle, a faster marathon time, being more well-rounded then this is the book for you. I would advise some caution, however – there is a section about a workout you can do around the world, anywhere, any time – some of these workouts require equipment so keep that in mind.

Genuinely couldn’t recommend this book enough – even if you aren’t into your fitness it is an incredible story by an incredible human being on a fascinating journey. I would read again just to read about the people Ross has met and what he has learned from them.

  12. Ben (verified owner)

I bought this book after catching wind of Ross’ “trip” around England. He is incredibly inspirational, and you can feel it through this book. He really goes in depth, and doesn’t promise you any quick fixes. I truly believe he’s onto something – not only by judging his incredible feats, but also his vibrant and enthusiastic personality.

You don’t even have to be into fitness to enjoy this book. It’s loaded with adventure and interesting facts. A great read any time of day/night.

  13. A. Murphy (verified owner)

Fun read for any fitness enthusiast. Heard about the book from JRE. Mostly talks about the basics of the body’s ability to adapt to external stressors. It’s good for me to read a book like this occasionally to remind me there’s no substitute for hard work.

  14. Giles Wilson (verified owner)

Informative and fun. I’m not sure if the author has a short attention span but the paragraphs rapidly jumped from topic to topic. Some people might find this annoying but I was fine with it. I would not describe this as a cover to cover read more a reference book full of articles and anecdotes. I took the information that was usefull to me and ignored the stuffed that was irrelevant to me. That said I found alot of interesting information in the book and I quite liked the authors attitude and writing style. But maybe not everyone cupcup of tea,

This book is fantastic. It helped me put into perspective everything I have learned on my fitness courses and how to help my future clients. This is a must read

  16. Trevor Harding (verified owner)

Ross gives great advice in this book, and gives workout plans based on different goals.

  17. arrecho (verified owner)

I wish I can give this book 6 stars. Any fitness enthusiast needs this book. Keep up the great work Ross

  18. T.J. (verified owner)

Great Great read. Ross lays out an extreme amount of information about fitness and living a healthy lifestyle. Hard to put the book down. His funny mishaps along the way were hilarious to read. Truly a rewarding read for myself.

  19. Emily Sanchez<span class="a-icon a-profile-verified-badge"><span class="a-profile-verified-text"></span></span> (verified owner)

Great book – Ross is a fantastic storyteller and the illustrations really help bind it all together.

  20. Al murphy (verified owner)

A good guide to get you on the right track whatever your fitness goals.
The nutrition portion im not a huge fan of though but it’s an individual thing

  21. A. Sridharan (verified owner)

This book will make you realize the untapped human potential in every one of us. A well written book on training that will also inspire you. I loved the fact the author took complicated topics and technical words and simplified it for the readers.

  22. Iain Russell (verified owner)

Great book covering interesting topics from one of the men I find most fascinating.

  23. Thomas (verified owner)

Great book to understand the basics of fitness along with lots of theories from all across the world. All about the functionality in fitness that leads to long term adherence of a fit lifestyle.

  24. Spaniard (verified owner)

I’m a lifelong athlete/competitor and avid learner, so I resonate w/ Ross’s message. TWFB combines personal memoir with science and action so we walk away inspired and full of how-to’s (workouts). I’d highly recommend the hard copy, even if you’re an audiobooker. I know so much more about training and physiology after having read the book. GREAT read! PS Ross loves philosophy and include a great deal of thought-provoking quotes and references from some of the all-time great thinkers.

  25. Mor Segev (verified owner)

I got the book after checking out what one of my favorite athletes had to say about it on social media. I have this book next to my bed and I read what ever speaks to me the most that day, back to back and over and over. this book is so dynamic, especially if you are looking to improve yourself athletically and build to be strong using all methods out there, so the book give you the principles – it teaches you how to create a stronger version of yourself as individual athlete. I love it, game changer for me and I HIGHLY recommend to listen to his podcasts cause this guy is very special and he might make u fall in love with him a little…

  26. Daniel S Beers (verified owner)

This exceeded my expectations. The stories are inspirational. The research is all cited. The workouts are incredibly different from what I’m used to and I am loving it. Thank you ross

  27. James Person (verified owner)

I really enjoyed the way the author related his personal adventures in telling the story of how he gained the experience and knowledge he shares in this book.

  28. ian baldrich (verified owner)

Great book, not on training and workouts, but on concepts and understanding them.

  29. Wesley Angel (verified owner)

This is probably one of the most impressive fitness (and nutrition) books I’ve ever read! While I’ve read many of them over the years, I can say, without a hesitation, this is a very unique, counter-cultural approach to ALL THINGS fitness. He busts myths, smashes records, and even creates new ones that I highly doubt will be repeated.

The book is formatted in an easy to read and understand way. It also helps that Ross takes (and gives plenty) of fact based science and explains it in an easily absorbable way without seeming to talk down to or shame you. His willingness to subject himself to whatever neccessary to humbly learn and carefully pass on new fitness information is far exceeding my expectations, and probably most people’s who will read this book!

If you’re looking for a knowledge (and occasionally action) packed book on all things fitness, for whatever you may want to train for, this is a MUST HAVE in your library. Even though he states “this is just a book, not a bible”, I consider this as close as one will get! Get it. Use it. Enjoy the results.

  30. Lane Rose (verified owner)

This book has so much value and provides you with the tools you need to program your own exercise routines! Even just as a book, its a great read because you learn about the catabolic process to build and grow muscles and strength as well as the recovery processes. There is also segments for cardiovascular health, stamina, running mechanics, etc.

  31. Jonathan (verified owner)

An interesting read which will leave you enlightened in getting fit and the ways people go to be at the top.

  32. Guðni Þór Sigurjónsson (verified owner)

the book is new but it was not wrapped in bubble wrap so the top of it got a little damage. other then that it was perfect

  33. Lewis (verified owner)

Great read, good recipes and some good workouts. Will defo purchase his next book. Some areas a bit lengthy though…

  34. Jackson (verified owner)

Best fitness book I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading. I hope someday I can master the control and abilities of his fitness levels. He’s truly an inspiration.

  35. David McCarthy (verified owner)

A little preachy- but some good messages

  36. Rick (verified owner)

I don’t typically buy fitness books because they usually rehash information, are outdated, and/or the info is readily available for free online. However this one is worth the money. Ross Edgley is an incredible athlete and while all of the information in the book may not be new, it is well written and researched with reference data, cites and personal stories. Not worth losing a star, but I wish the workouts were available in an easily accessible and editable form. Would definitely recommend.

  37. Lucas (verified owner)

I’ve been a “fitness buff, gym rat, ‘it’s a lifestyle’, junkie” for a little over 10 years now. I’ve gotten my personal training certification and a nutrition associates degree, I’ve explored as many fitness fads as have been put out there and tested man of them out on myself. Through years and years of work, I’ve found what has worked for me and been able to keep myself in decent shape. I’d consider myself in the top 20% of the health and wellness of people in the U.S.

    HOWEVER!!!!

This book is the first book that I’ve read in a long time about the “fitness industry” in which I’ve gained any kind of useful knowledge! Ross is very insightful in his work and research. He makes all of his findings easy to understand and then put into practice. And overall, this is just a fun read. It’s as entertaining as it is academic.

I highly recommend this book to anyone getting started on a health and fitness journey and to anyone who has all the experience in the world (this book will prove you don’t but Ross, in fact, does) in the industry. His adventures are extravagant and his achievements are far grander and a little insane if I’m being honest. But that’s the type of person you have to be to write a book title “The World’s Fittest Book”.

    Check it out!

  38. JH (verified owner)

I had this book for a while and could not get started. Once I did I finished it in a day. Great experiences that he does a good job detailing. You lose a little with the e version. Still a great read. I have already read his second book enjoyed it so I read this one. Looking forward to the next one.

  39. Raul (verified owner)

Very Inciteful and educating. Should be a go to read for anyone getting into fitness and those experiences to solidify their foundations.

  40. Stefan Vlad (verified owner)

Teaches you a lot health a nutrition

  41. Parsec (verified owner)

  42. jeremy (verified owner)

Really is an all around great book, must get paper copy though, e-book not enough.

  43. Eric Lauritzen (verified owner)

An incredible book that I feel has made me far more well rounded as an athlete. I can do it all and enjoy the process.

  44. Jonathan Cooper (verified owner)

The best fitness book I’ve ever read! Soaked up every word. The man or woman who grasps the principles of fitness can select their own methods. This is what Ross lays out crisply in this book, with several workout options and some dessert recipes.

  45. James (verified owner)

Truly the best guide to know and understand fitness. But get another guide to complete your work out routine… Although it has good work out routines to get you started.

  46. Suzy Brewer (verified owner)

This book is amazing in that it’s not selling anything and admonishes the reader to know themselves first and to build base and good habits and acknowledges over and over again that we all begin somewhere and then also we all have room to improve.

  47. Rider (verified owner)

Ross Edgely does and incredible job with his work here, and it should not go unnoticed or passed by. This book is full of useful information for everyone, regardless of previous training experience and can help teach people to lead their lives with the same unbridled enthusiasm that Ross exudes everyday.

  48. Davide Guerra (verified owner)

  49. Tanya K. (verified owner)

Perfect book to give someone that enjoys adventure and intellect while opening your mind up to new possibilities on when and how to workout everywhere for everything along with great recipes and pictures. Very enjoyable to read.
