    I sat in the room with Carl and Sally as they hammered back and forth on this book (I was a fly on the wall). This book is FILLED with science and really good training stuff. For beginners? Yes. For the super uber advanced? Yes, absolutely! There are training secrets in here that only professional athletes know, and, backed by science. Wow!

    I have been waiting for a book like this to come along! I’m not an extreme athlete, and so many other books on running are either too intense or hard to understand. I run mostly half marathons, have completed one marathon and was wanting to challenge myself. After reading, “How to be a Better Runner”, I KNOW I can be! There are many training plans that are well laid out. It’s full of inspirational photos, diagrams and a glossary with all the different runs. There are great tips on everything running and has advice on shoes, body form, diet and all-body fitness. It helps you to make the best choices and to set your own realistic goals. I’ve been training with a heart rate monitor for almost two years now, and I feel it is the most valuable and important addition to my workouts. Sally Edwards and Carl Foster give detailed information on heart zone training and thresholds that is invaluable for anyone, not just runners.
    “Be a Better Runner” will surely get you up and running!

Sally and Carl really connected with me in this book and I felt as if they were speaking directly to me. I know I’m a better runner from this book.
