Description
Uncover fearlessness through yoga’s methods and disciplines with this guide. This book offers a medically-proven approach to help students and clients uncover their own radiance that is hidden by fear and anxiety.
Yoga offers a readily-accessible system for courageous living, and this book explains how to use simple and quick yoga therapy methods for accessing the vagus nerve, resulting in instant relief from symptoms of fear, including depression, anxiety and rage. It offers asana, pranayama and dhyana exercises that help to eliminate ‘worry chatter’, directly affecting the amygdala, the part of the brain responsible for fearful thoughts. Addressing many components of fear, the book explains when fear is useful and when it is not, and teaches how to reprogram responses to uncertain circumstances so that they can be dealt with in a healthy way.

I was fortunate to have completed yoga teacher training with Beth back in 2014, so when I heard she had a book coming out I decided to order it right away. This book contains techniques I learned in her training as well as new methods. The techniques include a little of everything: movements, breath work, kriyas, passages, etc! I love that there are illustrations and descriptions and that I now have them in the convenient package of this book. These techniques can be used as medicine; and it’s all rather safe medicine with little to no side effects or danger (as always there are precautions). As a high vata fear tendency person with secondary kapha tendencies ( my self diagnosis) I plan to use the practices for my own healing. I’m also excited to share some of them with my clients. In fact I just shared a chair version of thoppakarunam with a client with dementia and her words afterwards were “ that was calming.” I’ve done a quick read through of the whole book and now I plan to slowly study and try out each part. I can’t wait!

Beth Spindler has a wonderful way of engaging the reader in so many topics, by both example and metaphors that really help you to think through powerful movement and breath work, but also in understanding key concepts in yoga philosophy. Lots of terms she uses are topics a beginner yoga teacher, or one currently going after RYT would find useful at any level.
Another thing that I appreciate about her style is how inclusive it is – we can’t always accommodate everyone, but being mindful of things we take for granted, and our roles as guides to help people heal and tune into their own bodies and breath is so key.
Excellent book! Was called to this for both the philosophy and healing techniques to help balance my mood. You will be armed with theory, science and practices to get yourself going. 11/10 – reading again!
