This book is not just a good resource for people that want to eat a macro-friendly diet, but also assists anyone wanting to get started on meal prepping. The authort has included a 6 week prep plan that contains nicely organized lists with everything (including equipment) needed for the prepping of a week worth of meals. The book contains more 60 recipes for living a healthy lifestyle while pursruing your bodybuilding goals.
Each recipe page is well structured, with detailed nutritional and prepping information as well as ingredient lists. This makes cooking healthy meals simple and includes such favorites as an avocado lime dressing, Vietnamese noodle bowl and ham and feta quiche. It also includes a number of side dishes to make veggies appealing to the whole family like Popeye’s Spinach and glazed carrots.

I received a free copy from the publisher.

This is a great book if you are completely unfamiliar with meal prepping and you are interested in getting starting. Vodrazka lays everything out for you and takes you step by step through the entire process.

The reason I was interested in this book was because I have been meal prepping for years, but am always looking for ways to make the process go quicker and smoother. Additionally, I love getting new ideas for meals to prep. While I haven’t tried any of the recipes yet, they look delicious and some will definitely be making an appearance in my weekly rotation!

I have two gripes with this book, which is why 4 stars and not 5, is the macro content of a lot of the recipes.
1). If I were to follow the macro breakdown that the author suggests (which I actually do!), I only get 30g of fat per day. If I were to make 3 recipes for a days worth of food, I would likely be way over my fat macro allotment. Many, many recipes had between 10-20g of fat per serving. To me, if you are recommending that people following your macro breakdown and you saying to only get 20-25% of your daily macros in fat (for cutting), then there needs to be more “fat friendly” recipes.

2). There aren’t a lot of options if you dairy free. A lot of recipes use cheese, cottage cheese, yogurt and if you are dairy free, there really isn’t a good alternative that won’t significantly impact macros. Yes, you can always just leave off cheese in a recipe, but cottage cheese or greek yogurt have a very high protein count and their “milk alternative” counterparts do not. It was just sad to see how many recipes called for some sort of dairy product.

Otherwise, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and found the information very useful. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is ready to take the leap into meal prepping and prioritizing their health and wellness.

Thank you to Callisto Media for my advanced reading copy via NetGalley

I love this cookbook! It’s so well organized and down-to-earth. It starts off with several sections of helpful education about macros and how to reach your bodybuilding goals with meal prep. Then it eases you into six weeks of planned meal preps to follow, which takes the guesswork out of getting started. After you work your way through the six weeks, the book provides dozens of other recipes to mix and match to keep going with your meal prepping. All the recipes can be modified for bulking or cutting, so they can work with any stage of bodybuilding. Whether you’re new to meal prep or more experienced, it has something to offer.

*I received a copy of the book from the publisher to share my thoughts.

The author does a lot of the work for you – she gives you a step-by-step meal plan for six weeks that include breakfasts, lunches, dinners and snacks. There are already completed grocery lists and even a list of the necessary cooking tools!
The recipes are already macro balanced, as the proteins, fats and carbs are counted for you, making it easy to get all of your necessary nutrients!
You are advised to make meals that you enjoy eating (instead of plodding through a meal that you are eating because it is good for you), find recipes that use the same ingredients – to cut down on food prep, and finally, choose simple recipes – to conserve time when you are busy!
This cookbook does things right – the first week of recipes uses hamburger and chicken, and portobello mushrooms, and you are taught how to easily cook big batches of each, separate the batches of food into smaller batches, and store them for later use in the recipes. The recipes include meatballs, mushrooms, chicken, kale and tomatoes.
The next week uses ham and feta quiche, tilapia, bacon, eggs and asparagus; these ingredients are also made in large quantities, reapportioned and frozen for later use.
Enjoy eating well, knowing that all of your meals are nutritionally balanced, and that you will have meals ready for the week or even longer if you pre cook and freeze ahead of time!

Excellent book and the recipes are yummy. I am very into working out and trying to eat well and this book just made it easier. I love the layout and the meal plan that accompanies it. And the food is delicious. I have Michelle’s first book, Help Yourself to Seconds which is also a nutritious meal book with recipes. Both are excellent if you want to exercise, eat right yet feel good and have a lot of energy and vitality in your life!

This is a very complete cookbook that also includes simple tools, meal plans and prep tips to make eating healthy while increasing muscle an easy feat. Loved the myriad of recipes that are all super healthy and delicious with all the info on macros.

I especially loved that most of the recipes are quick to prepare, often under 5-10 minutes and the handy tips to advance prep and batch cooking. This is great for those who are super busy and still want to enjoy healthy, delicious food.
Love the best bunless burger and lemon drop energy recipes!
My husband and my son also love the ease of recipes.
Thanks for great inspiration for my kitchen while keeping the carbs low.

The author does a phenomenal job of spelling out simple and sensible ways to prepare in one go a week’s worth of healthy, nutritious and delicious meals. The recipes are straightforward and fast, and the grocery lists and lists of necessary tools are a huge help as well. This book is ideal for beginners like me, but also offers in-depth expertise for those who are experts themselves. A great book!

I try to stay relatively healthy being 35 I know it’s only down hill from here and my metabolism will be less forgiving as time marches on. So this is a great book to help you start meal prepping.
None of the recipes are overly complicated.
The logic is well laid out in the chapters preceding the recipes.
I have tried the Herb Salmon and the Feta burgers and both turned out really well.
I’m not a huge cook but I can follow directions 😉
The feta turkey burgers sort of fell apart during cooking but they were still delicious!
A+ cookbook for people macro counting.

Been using this book for a few months now and the recipes help a lot! Only thing I wish for is a European version of the book. can’t source some ingredients

Update: Been using this book for a few months now and i use it daily. Ended up buying another for a friend of mine. Always had problem putting on weight but the simplified bulking information really helped him big time!

Really worth the few quid if your into bodybuilding or even looking to shed a few healthy and with good tasting recipes.

  24. Crazy4Russ (verified owner)

Exactly what I wanted. I am a person that likes the guess work taken out and this gives you details for each prep. Full of recipes that will be suitable for most palates and not a bunch of ingredients that aren’t easily accessible. There is nothing more frustrating than recipes with ingredients that you have never heard of or can’t find. This is fresh, healthy, clean eating food.

  25. Matthew L. (verified owner)

This book is great for those looking to start meal prepping and creating a menu for the week. It takes a step by step process and breaks it down in very easy to understand steps for beginners through experienced food preppers.

We love the recipes that we have tried and recommend this book to our clients as a key book to help them get into Food Prepping and meal planning.

Great book, easy to read and understand, amazing recipes

  26. Giuseppe Russo (verified owner)

Very helpful on helping your transformation

  27. Orange kitty (verified owner)

I got this as my intro to meal prep and healthy eating. A lot of the recipes are easy to follow and I love the hints at substituting. I’m a picky eater and a lot of the recipes had things I was not crazy about but it’s teaching me to try new things. I didn’t like that soy milk wasn’t an option on a lot and almond milk was in a lot of recipes. I would still recommend this book and it’s super helpful and if you are not a picky eater you might find more of it enjoyable.

  28. shopsalot32 (verified owner)

Lots of easy, tasty recipes nicely laid out and presented plus a plan for weekly meal prepping. Each recipe spells out whether it’s vegan, gluten-free or dairy-free and includes a nutritional breakdown and macro percentages for those counting. I’ve tried quite a few of the recipes and they’ve all been very good!

Arrived on time and My brother loves it😁

  35. Kira Simon (verified owner)

There are some major editing errors in the beginning of the book to find the MACROS and in some of the recipes with weight vs measuring cup. There are some very interesting recipes and I use them often. This is a great place to start meal planning, especially if you want to get the maximum results in the gym.

  36. Haylie Travis (verified owner)

This book is so easy to follow. The recipes are delicious and great if you’re on a budget. The ingredients are nothing crazy and if you eat pretty decent and healthy anyway you will have the majority of the ingredients.

I’m not in love with meal prepping. We are a sports family so it’s nice to have meals already made I can he’s tip quickly and eat. This is only first week and I’m excited to keep going!
